This Spring 2014 brings a whole lot of fun lace dresses and tops. I was never really attracted to lace much before, but I felt naturally drawn to it for this coming season. I bought a pretty little Carolina Herrera navy 50s style cocktail dress at a local consignment store and can’t wait to show it off. I always considered the trickiest thing about lace is telling good lace apart from bad. Lace should never resemble cheese cloth (and unfortunately a lot of lace pieces found in department stores do). I personally like hefty, heavy lace. It looks more youthful and when presented in a bright color it looks fantastic. Dolce & Gabbana along with Valentino have come up with beautiful bright dresses. Some can be upwards of $3,000 but you don’t have to break the bank when shopping for a lace dress. Try hunting for one at consignment stores and opt for a simple style like a sheath dress (as depicted in the photo) to show off the beauty of the lace itself. You cannot go wrong with bright pinks, greens, and oranges.
