Though I was cooped up in my office working 50 to 60 hour weeks most of this Spring, I couldn’t help noticing the wacky weather. It’s been gloomy here in DC, raining at least part of the day-every day-for the last two weeks. Last week’s Gold Cup Races reflected the fashion anxiety caused by the cold, wet weather in that most attendees opted for rain boots and riding boots instead of cute Spring sandals. I was one of those very wise people who preferred not to get my toes in a muddy mess. But let’s get back to the purpose of this post-to lend advice on what to wear during in this wayward weather.
If you’re a Fall fashion-lover like me, this weather may be a blessing in disguise. It’s an excuse to bring back the more colorful Fall wardrobe pieces–jewel-toned cropped jackets and trench coats. I, myself, am wearing my pink tweed cropped jacket with blue shearling to work today over a fitted grey sweater. Avoid wearing all black and do not worry about over-doing color. As for footwear, color also prevails either in a sumptuous navy or putty green ankle boot or bright teal flats. Bring out sweaters in coral, peach, and melon tones; they are sure to add a pop of color on a cold dreary day. And last but not least, add an inconspicuous headband or other hair accessory to keep your hair tidy in the rain and wind.
