Collecting and repairing vintage jewelry has been my new-found hobby. Most of my new pieces are rings spanning from the 1940s to the 1970s. Cocktail rings are lots of fun, especially to wear out on DC preppy events like Gold Cup. Last month’s Gold Cup was commandeered by persistent thunderstorms, leaving cute spring dresses to be covered by by trench coats and water-proof boots. However, this was a great opportunity to rock a lot of bling on hands and ear lobes. Some sparkle always brings a little pleasantness to an otherwise cold and rainy afternoon.
The best place in DC I’ve found for jewelry repair is Market Street Diamonds in Georgetown. Other than having beautiful pieces in their display cases and being a mecca for engagement rings, the repair work there is un-matched. Of the many rings I’ve had sized there so far, I have yet to discover a seam. The customer service is also outstanding with regular status updates via email and free steamings. The duchess approves!
