One Cool Adams Morgan Loft

One Cool Adams Morgan Loft

It’s been a while since I’ve written.  I guess you could say I was looking for inspiration.  Well now I’m back and this is the perfect kick-off post.  I recently helped a friend of mine decorate his condo in Adams Morgan.  Well now the loft area is finally complete and I couldn’t be happier with the results.  Maybe there is an alternative career for me yet.  Now, I can’t take credit for the concrete floor staining and the Noguchi table.  But, I did pick out everything else. =)

I wanted to create a look that was modern and airy.  I started with taking his Noguchi table from the living room and bringing it up to the loft area.  Prior, the loft was carpeted in sisal and had a hideous dark plum color on the windowed wall.  We opted to strip the floor down to the concrete and stain it light gray.  Not only did this make the floor much more durable, it made the place more young and hip.

The variations on the concrete floor were so interesting, we opted not to cover them with a rug. The sectional was purchased from Mitchell Gold (14th and Q St. NW) and was upholstered with a tight, contemporary silver-gray pattern.  The pillows were also custom-made at Mitchell Gold and actually inspired the color of the accent wall, a green that had to have enough yellow in it to compliment the fire engine red Noguchi table perfectly.  Now onto the living room…
