I was perusing the weekend edition of the Wall Street Journal and uncovered a great little article on men’s hybrid coats. To summarize, tech has combined with style to transform your winter coat into something that is both warm and stylish. The hybrids come in the form of separate layered coats-wool outer coat and quilted down inner layer-and two layers that are melded together. These men’s designer wool puffer hybrids can fetch hefty price tags upwards of $2,000; but not to fear. There are very reasonably priced ladies hybrid coats that can keep you warm and looking glamorous. My favorite hybrid (and next coat purchase) is the flannel puffer coat by Akris Punto in gray. Very few brands can make a puffer look this polished. Originally at Bergdorf’s, you can now find the coat (and it’s variations) at other online retailers. Of course, there many brands (in varying prices) that offer hybrid coats from Moncler to DKNY. Regardless of what style hybrid you choose a good rule of thumb is to choose a coat with a high quality wool/cashmere outer layer. You don’t want your wool puffer looking like a sweatshirt puffer.
